About the South Okanagan

 

The Okanagan Valley stretches from Vernon, BC to Osoyoos, BC, and across the border into the United States. Known for its dry, hot  summer months, plentiful wineries, microbreweries and orchards, the rolling hills and lakes provide a spectacular backdrop for countless four-season activities. Communities in the Southern end of the Okanagan include Summerland, Penticton,  Oliver, and Osoyoos.

Summerland, BC

Located 15 km North of Penticton, Summerland is situated on the West side of Okanagan Lake. With a population of 11,000, Summerland is a quiet piece of paradise. The district is between Peachland to the north and Penticton to the south. The largest centre in the region is Kelowna, approximately 50 km to the north, and Vancouver is approximately 425 km away to the west.

Penticton, BC

With Skaha Lake on one side, and Okanagan Lake stretching out on the other, Penticton is located at the heart of the Okanagan. From skiing in the winter months to hiking, swimming, golfing, and wine touring in the spring, summer and fall, Penticton is a paradise any time of year. With a population of 35,000, there is always something exciting going on here.

Oliver, BC

Nestled between Osoyoos and Penticton you will find the Wine Capital of Canada, Oliver, BC. Known for it’s beautiful vineyards and orchards, Oliver is full of surprises and a peaceful oasis year round. Oliver is situated in the south central area of British Columbia, Canada’s third largest province which occupies almost ten per cent of the country’s land surface.

Osoyoos, BC

Just a ten minute drive from the US boarder, Osoyoos is located at the most southern part of the Canadian Okanagan Valley, Osoyoos is known for its hot sun and beautiful beaches. A town with a population of just over 5,000, Osoyoos is a quiet oasis that attracts a visitors from all over during the summer due to its dry, desert heat.
